Treatment in case of a positive STD test

We improved the tests, you can test 3 sexual areas simultaneously.
Besides that, we also improved the treatment.

Chlamydia for women:

  • Doxycycline 100 mg, 2 times a day 1 tablet, during 7 days

Chlamydia for men:

  • Azithromycin 1000 mg tablet one-off

Gonorrhoea

  • Ceftriaxone 500 mg intramuscular injection

Why have we chosen for this treatment?
A vaginal chlamydia infection is almost always accompanied by an anal infection, even without anal sex.

A single treatment of 1000mg azitromycin is not sufficient. The best treatment is doxycyclin for one week. This effectively treats anal, vagina and oral infections.

What should I do if my result is positive?

  • Call your doctor and share the result with him/her so that he/she can prescribe you antibiotics. If you are looking for a GP and you live in Groningen then you can make an appointment here at StudentArts.
  • Ask your doctor whether additional testing for Syphilis, Hepatitis B and HIV is necessary.
  • Contact your sexual partners and share your test results with them. They are most likely infected as well. You usually have to inform the people who you have slept with within the last six months. Sometimes this can also be within the last year(s).
  • If you prefer not to tell your sexual partners that you have an STD, then the GGD can, with your permission, inform your sexual partners for you. Contact the GGD in your area via the GGD locator.
  • You can also warn your sexual partners online via partnerwaarschuwing.nl† This is done via a code that you can get from us. If you want to warn your partner(s) in this way, you can send us an email at info@soastudentarts.nl. Then we will send you a code with which you can warn your partner(s) via partner alert.nl.
  • If you hear that your (previous) sexual partner has an STD, then you must take this seriously. Get tested even if you don’t have any symptoms.
