Our origin

SoaStudentArts is an initiative from a GP in Groningen (StudentArts). There, the GPs regularly saw students with an STD, such as chlamydia and gonorrhea. Not strange at all, of course (and certainly not something to be ashamed of), but students often delay going to the doctor or order an unreliable STD test online. The result is that STDs spread and eventually women are at risk of reduced fertility in extreme cases and men develop urinary tract complaints, for example.

That is a shame and unnecessary, since STDs are generally easy to treat and spread can be prevented by timely testing. In addition, good aftercare and the provision of correct information play a major role in preventing STDs and reducing the number of infections.

Luckily, healthcare in the Netherlands is very well organized and we can all be very happy with that. However, the regular processes for testing for STDs can be a lot more pleasant, faster and also completely anonymous! The costs can also be reduced, because on average you will spend about €150 for an STD test via the doctor (depending on your health insurance and the height of your so called own risk, among other things).

SoaStudentArts

The realization in general practice that testing for STDs can be organized much better has led to the establishment of SoaStudentArts. Improving these processes was a goal in itself, but the goal we really have in mind and act upon is to drastically reduce the number of STD infections. Better still: our ultimate mission is to get every student in the Netherlands STD-free. Quite ambitious, we agree. So how are we going to do that?

How does it work?

The basis is that SoaStudentArts always offers low-threshold, qualitative and inexpensive SOA care. Anonymity and dealing with your privacy in a discreet way plays a very important role, and that will never change. We realize that many people find it uncomfortable or - for whatever reason - annoying to go to the doctor or GGD with their complaints. That is why we have designed our services in such a way that you can test yourself at home, not having to face anyone, and we guarantee discreet shipping. This means that there is no text on the shipping material of your STD test that indicates that you have ordered an STD test. Also our name and logo are not on it! These days, you can even request medication from us after a positive result of your STD test (which is also sent discreetly), so that you can remain anonymous even in the event of an infection and do not have to see the doctor. Here you can read more about the aftercare we offer.

In addition, we attach great importance to quality. You can test for chlamydia and gonorrhea with us and our STD tests are just as reliable as those of the GP and GGD. The tests are analyzed in a certified laboratory called Medical Laboratories dr. Stein & Colleague, so you can be sure of a reliable result.

Long waiting times at the GGD or your doctor are also a thing of the past, because you receive our STD tests at home within 2 business days after ordering. You can then easily carry out the test yourself at home using the included instructions and then simply send the test material to the lab yourself by post, using the enclosed return envelope. After you have done that, you can view your result online within 3-5 business days by entering your unique client code on our results page. As indicated earlier, if the result is positive, you can now also request medication immediately, so that you are STD-free again as soon as possible.

Together the Netherlands STD-free, that's what we aim for.

In short: we do our best to make it as easy and pleasant as possible for you, including all possible aftercare if you need it. We focus on students because we see a relatively high number of infections in this group, but everyone is allowed to use our services. In this way we hope to move towards an STD-free future together!
